The Story of Rhual

Rhual dates back to the 17th century; however, its foundations could be even earlier. It has homed over 21 generations of the same family and now, Julia, retains its long history and tradition.

Rhual has been home to a Commander-in-Chief of India, members of Parliament, High Sheriffs, a Religious non-conformist, the Mayor of Chester and a Field Marshall. As a result of its extensive history, Rhual has a large amount of antique furniture, art and historic items of military and religious significance.

Rhual has survived family turmoil with brothers on the opposing sides of the civil war, nursed soldiers from The Battle of Waterloo, provided shelter to refugees during the World Wars and housed Royalty.

Rhual also has rich American connections. It homed Frederick Philipse after he fled the War of Independance. The Philipse family were the founders of Sleepy Hollow Church, the oldest church building in New York. Julia and her father, Major Basil Heaton, were presented with the key to the City of Yonkers for their strong historical connections with America.

Julia and her team would be happy to discuss the history of the house on request.
